Europsy Rehabilitation is a European organization based on the principles of cooperation and solidarity. It is directed by mental health professionals and users.
Its mission is to stand up for the rights of people with mental disabilities, as equal to those of other European citizens, guaranteeing their social, economic and work integration.
Europsy’s main goal is to listen to this group’s claims and expectations, and to make sure they reach those European citizens and authorities who are not aware of the problems they face. Thus, changes in the law can be introduced, calling attention and asking for the necessary actions to take care of these people, their rehabilitation and social reinsertion. Not long ago, the mentally disabled were stigmatized and isolated in terms of both social interaction and medical care.
Apart from being a source of information and a form for discussion, Europsy promotes psychosocial rehab programs targeted at restoring skills, enhancing individual resources, and favoring autonomy and social integration for those who are also part of the European space, by enabling them to make their own decisions about the life they want to lead.
